Are you thinking of hiring a coach to support you in your pet business?
If you’ve ever wondered what a coach is and why you’d want to work with one, you’re not alone.
It might sound fancy, or even a bit indulgent.
But in the fast-paced, noisy world of running a pet business, having someone in your corner to help you slow down, get clear and take action in a way that feels right for you can make a massive difference.
In this post, learn what a pet business coach does, why you might like to work with one, how coaching can support you (no matter what stage you’re at), and what makes my approach different.
So, what does a pet business coach actually do?
Coaching is about creating the right environment for you and your business to flourish.
Giving you a place where you can go to think, explore ideas, to process the many things going on around you, with someone by your side to support you as you take action.
As a pet business coach, I work with people at all stages of their business, whether they’re just starting out, figuring out their next step, or completely rethinking how they do things.
I’m not here to hand you a five-step system or tell you what you should do. Instead, I help you work out what’s right for you – and then support you in doing that, your way.
This might involve:
- Coaching through visibility wobbles and helping you feel more confident showing up
- Planning out content, launches or offers
- Helping you untangle a big decision
- Listening and reflecting back the brilliance in what you do
- Being someone to turn to when it comes to your emotions and challenges, not just your to-do list

Who is pet business coaching for?
You might be:
- Just getting started and feeling overwhelmed by all the things you “should” be doing
- An established business owner who’s lost a bit of clarity or confidence
- Adapting or scaling your business and wanting some fresh eyes and guidance
- Or simply craving space to focus on you, your goals, and your wellbeing alongside the business side of things
Many of my clients tell me it’s the first time they’ve felt properly listened to in their business.
Coaching gives you time to pause, breathe, and look at what’s really going on – with someone by your side who genuinely cares.
How much does a pet business coach cost?
It can range from £10 a month for a low-cost membership to £20,000 for a year of support with an industry expert.
There are coaches out there to suit all kinds of budgets, and many of them have podcasts, YouTube channels, books and other content out there which you can access for free or a small investment.
This means you’re able to get a feel as to whether they’re right for you. Your peers will also be able to recommend people depending on the kind of support you need.
What makes an accredited pet business coach different?
There are lots of brilliant people offering coaching support to pet businesses – but not all of them are trained as coaches. That was important to me.
I trained and qualified as a coach because I didn’t want to call myself one unless I had the credentials to back it up.
I already had two decades of experience as a journalist and had worked in PR so I knew my specialist area well, but I knew I wanted to offer more than advice.
I wanted to feel competent dealing with the deeper stuff – the confidence wobbles, the tricky decisions, the emotional load of being a business owner.
In 2025, I completed my ILM Level 7 in Executive Coaching and Mentoring.
This means I’ve been trained to:
- Coach at a senior and strategic level
- Create safe, supportive spaces for clients to explore what they really need
- Evaluate what’s working (and what’s not)
- Reflect on my own emotional intelligence and communication skills so I can keep growing too
Being qualified is about giving my clients the emotional support they need, and also, for me to feel confident that whatever they come to me with, I’ll have the tools to support them.
What can you expect from working with me?
Everyone is different, so the support I offer is always tailored.
Some people work with me through one-to-one coaching.
Others join the Pets Get Visible membership or Mastermind, where they get support in a small, supportive community.
No matter what route you take, the feedback I get most often is that people value:
- Having someone to help them figure things out – not tell them what to do
- Feeling safe to share anything without judgement
- That I care just as much about their self-care, mindset and confidence as I do their visibility strategy
- My experience across journalism, content, mindset and business means they can bring anything to the table
- That I’m in it with them – not a lofty expert, but someone who’s learning and growing too
What kind of results do you get from coaching?
Here are just a few stories of people I’ve supported through coaching:
- Sarah: Had her work dismissed as “pointless” and struggled with confidence. Through coaching, she felt more determined and clear – and now speaks on stage at dog festivals, partners with big brands, and is invited to set up her signature yellow space zones – chill out areas for dogs – at events.
- Niki: A brilliant dog trainer who had written a book and wanted to raise awareness around not walking reactive dogs. We worked together on her campaign idea – Don’t Walk Your Dog Day which takes place every April 2nd. It went viral, she sold thousands of books and is now confidently sharing her expertise with the world.
- Louise: A pilates instructor who said coaching “switched the light on.” Through mastermind calls and one-to-ones, she made things simpler, got more done, and has more time to do what she wants, including walking the South Downs Coastal Path with her Labrador Pickle. It’s not all about the money!
Final thoughts: is coaching right for you?
You don’t have to have all the answers.
You don’t need to earn the right to ask for support. And coaching isn’t just for people chasing £10k months – it’s for anyone who wants space, clarity, and a safe place to grow.
Whether you work with someone one-to-one, join a group, or start with a book or podcast, it’s okay to prioritise you and your wellbeing.
