Why being visible matters

If people don’t know about your business, they can’t buy from you, book your services, or benefit from the amazing work you do.

Visibility is how you connect with more pet owners, share your expertise, and build trust. And the earlier you start planning, the easier it is to show up consistently and confidently.

Here’s why planning ahead makes a difference and takes away so much stress!

  • You won’t miss the key times people need your products or services, like pet sitting in summer, fireworks workshops in autumn, or warm coats in winter.
  • You’ll be ready to make some noise about your big moments, like new product launches, attending events like Crufts or DogFest, or winning awards.
  • You’ll feel less stressed and more in control, knowing what to say and when to say it and be able to make the most of opportunities to sell your product or service.

How to start your plan

Step 1: List your products or key services.

  • Write down everything you offer, from pet sitting to training courses, to the accessories or products you sell.

Step 2: Look at the year ahead.

  • Grab a calendar or diary and map out the times of year when people need your services most.
    • Examples:
      • Pet sitting or training for summer holidays.
      • Warm pet coats or anxiety products in winter.
      • Christmas gift bundles for pet lovers.

Step 3: Work backwards at least three months.

  • To avoid last-minute scrambling, plan 90 days in advance. For example:
    • If you’re promoting a Fireworks Safety workshop in October, start creating content in July.
    • If you’re launching a Dogs in Yellow product for March 20th, start your press and social campaigns in January.

Step 4: Use awareness days to inspire content.

  • Awareness days help banish the blank page and spark ideas to help you connect with pet owners. Examples:
    • March is Pet Anxiety Month. Share education content, stories, or products that help anxious pets.
    • March 20th is Dogs in Yellow Day. Perfect for promoting products like leads, bandanas, or space-awareness campaigns.
    • Senior Pet Month in November could inspire advice on caring for older pets.

Step 5: Plan your promotions.

  • Think about how you’ll get the word out:
    • Blog posts and social media.
    • Emails and newsletters.
    • Podcasts or lives.
    • Pitching stories to the press.
    • Maybe a free challenge or workshop!

Step 6: Break it down into quarters, months, and weeks.

  • This is where the Pet Business Content Planner and Companion comes in. Break your big plans into manageable steps so you’re never overwhelmed.

What you’ll learn in the workshop

In the Pets Get Visible for 2025 Workshop, we’ll work on:

  • Starting your plan: Get your ideas down and create a roadmap for the year ahead.
  • Using awareness days: Tie them into your products, services, or campaigns to stay relevant and visible.
  • Breaking it down: Use the planner to set quarterly, monthly, and weekly goals.
  • Promoting effectively: Learn how to warm up your audience months in advance with social media, blogs, and email campaigns.
  • Overcoming blocks: Gain mindset strategies to stay consistent and confident, even when self-promotion feels tough.

By the end, you’ll have a complete visibility plan for 2025 and the tools to keep it going all year long.

How the planner helps

The Pet Business Content Planner and Companion is your ultimate visibility toolkit.

Inside you’ll find:

  • Reflection pages: Celebrate your wins and learn what works best for your business.
  • Mindset tools: Overcome overwhelm, procrastination, or perfectionism with practical exercises.
